Turner Broadcasting Systems' local Atlanta TV program is now gone with its station, but their site redesign in 2007 was a wonderful opportunity to develop something exciting from a design perspective and challenging due to limited access to enterprise back-end technologies.
Starting with a beautiful design by AF, I transformed it to XHTML/CSS and began to design the back-end architecture as the content was not only dynamic, but needed to be changed on a regular basis by any number of staff with access.
No database
Normally this would have involved a simple database and some PHP, but we had no access to any server-side technologies (Oracle/WebLogic - I couldn't have done it anyway...)
AJAX to the rescue
Armed with some recently acquired (and self-taught) knowledge of jQuery, I created a library of XML files updated by the client and jQuery to dynamically load them based on content changes. It would make for a good article some day!
